A 60-year-old man was killed in a two-car collision in Riverside, authorities said Monday.
The crash happened about 7:20 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Alessandro Boulevard and Vista Grande Drive, in an area known as Mission Grove, according to Riverside police.
Investigators said the 61-year-old driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe was going west on Alessandro when he initiated a left turn to head south on Vista Grande. At about that time, a Ford Mustang approached Vista Grande going eastbound and slammed into the passenger side of the Hyundai, according to police.
Raymond Brummet of Riverside was in the right-front passenger seat of the compact SUV and was ejected on impact. He was taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley, where he died about 8 p.m.
The drivers of the Hyundai and Ford, neither of whom were identified, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the same hospital for treatment.
Investigators said alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash. No one was arrested.
Vista Grande is on the south side of Alessandro, and westbound motorists must cross two eastbound lanes to reach the residential street. There is no traffic signal there, only a turn lane.
