Arraignment for a Los Angeles County resident accused of killing a man and injuring a woman during a Valentine’s Day shooting in Desert Hot Springs was postponed Tuesday until April 12.

Anthony Webb, 38, of San Pedro is suspected in the slaying of 49-year-old Desert Hot Springs resident Joseph Slaten and a woman who were found shot in a parked car about 5:30 p.m. near a home in the 12500 block of Avenida Alta Loma. Slaten died at the scene, and the woman, whose name was withheld, was hospitalized with what police described as non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Webb is charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder involving the woman and a man who was at the Feb. 14 shooting scene but wasn’t wounded, as well as a misdemeanor count of resisting arrest, according to Riverside County district attorney’s spokesman John Hall.

Webb’s connection, if any, to the victims was not disclosed.

He was arrested March 1 at his home in the San Pedro section of Los Angeles after allegedly barricading himself inside the residence for several hours that morning after the Riverside County Gang Impact Team arrived to take him into custody about 6 a.m. Los Angeles police called in a SWAT team, which arrested him without further incident about 9:15 a.m., Hall said.

Webb is being held without bail.
