About 200 firefighters and several water-dropping helicopters were at the scene at the height of the firefight, Dispatch Supervisor Michael Pittman said. No structures were threatened.
Containment was estimated at 50 percent as of 8:30 p.m. when water drops ceased for the night, Pittman said.
“We’ve released most of the firefighters,” Pittman said. “We are keeping a night crew of about 15 firefighters at the scene and will resume the firefighting at daylight.”
No injuries were reported, he said.
