Authorities Friday were investigating the deaths of a Lancaster couple whose bodies were found with gunshot wounds near the California Aqueduct in Palmdale as a murder suicide.
The bodies of 30-year-old Jovan Webb and 27-year-old Haley Mercier were found about 3:30 p.m. Thursday near Munz Ranch Road, said Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau. The pair was reported missing Wednesday, with Webb suffering from depression.
A family member of one of the missing contacted the Sheriff’s Lancaster Station about 12:30 p.m. Thursday saying that Webb’s red Mazda Miata convertible had been found.
Deputies conducted an extensive search of the area for the missing couple with the assistance of a helicopter and located a male and a female, each with a gunshot wound to the upper body, Schrader said. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
A firearm was found at the location, Schrader said.
