A woman was killed in a DUI-related crash in the Harbor Gateway area where Los Angeles, Torrance and Gardena meet, authorities said Monday.
The crash happened at 7:40 p.m. Sunday at Western Avenue and 182nd Street, Sgt. Donnie Ellison of the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division said.
A man suspected of driving under the influence ran a red light and struck the woman’s vehicle, Ellison said.
Firefighters used the jaws of life to free the woman from the wreckage and she was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, he said.
The uninjured man was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Ellison said. No other injuries were reported.
