A murder charge was filed Tuesday against a 19-year-old Yorba Linda man accused in a fatal stabbing at a Brea apartment complex.

Austin Joseph Ambriz is also facing a sentence-enhancing allegation of the personal use of a deadly weapon.

The victim, who was in his mid-20s, was killed about 4:30 a.m. Sunday at the Birchwood Village apartment complex at 1717 E. Birch St., said Brea police Lt. Adam Hawley.

Police and coroner’s officials have not released the victim’s name, but court papers identify him as Luke L.

Ambriz was arrested shortly after the stabbing after police pulled over a vehicle in which two other young men — identified as Jason Le Burger, 19, of Yorba Linda and Robert Mejia, 19, of Anaheim — were riding, authorities said. The other two are considered suspects in the case, but no charges have been filed against them thus far, said Senior Deputy District Attorney Jennifer Walker, who filed the case against Ambriz.

Police have not established a motive for the stabbing, according to Hawley, who said the victim and the suspects were acquainted.
