Police Thursday identified a suspect in a series of Southland home burglaries, many of which targeted people who were away attending funerals.

Brett Patrick Rogers, 44, who has family in Riverside and Lake Elsinore, is suspected to be the burglar pictured in a doorbell camera security video at a Sherman Oaks residence that was burglarized on March 12, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The same suspect is believed to have burglarized homes on March 7 and 11 while the residents were at funerals, the LAPD reported.

On March 27, police released the security video from the Sherman Oaks crime, and sought public help to identify the burglar.

“After the original news release was issued … several calls came in regarding this suspect,” an LAPD statement said. “With the help of the public, the suspect has been identified as Brett Patrick Rogers.

“Based on this investigation Rogers may also be involved in burglaries in Glendale and Lakewood where those victims were also at funerals,” police said.

A warrant has been obtained for Rogers’ arrest. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call LAPD Van Nuys Station burglary detectives at (818) 374-0029 or (877) LAPD-247.
