Fire ripped through a strip mall in the unincorporated View Park area of Los Angeles County Thursday morning, and sheriff’s arson and explosives experts were deployed to determine what sparked the blaze, authorities said.

The fire erupted at 12:31 a.m. in businesses in the 3800 block of West Slauson Avenue, said sheriff’s Deputy Tina Schrader. The fire went to a second alarm before firefighters declared a knockdown at 1:50 a.m., according to a County Fire dispatcher.

At least two businesses were affected, said Schrader, and detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Arson Explosives Detail were dispatched to the site to launch an investigation.

There were no reports of injuries.
