A stolen-vehicle suspect who led police on a short chase in Van Nuys was arrested Friday after he fled on foot from the vehicle, authorities said.

The man was spotted in a stolen Toyota Tacoma pickup around 11:30 p.m. and drove off when officers approached him near the intersection of Sherman Way and Kester Avenue, said Sgt. Ron Fisher of the Los Angeles Police Department.

The chase ended quickly and the suspect fled into a nearby neighborhood, Fisher said, adding that officers set up a perimeter and arrested the man shortly after midnight.
