Garden Grove police and the California Highway Patrol collared two armed robbery suspects early Monday after chasing them on freeways to South Los Angeles, authorities said.

The victim called police at 12:30 a.m. to report a robbery at gunpoint at 13822 Harbor Boulevard, Garden Grove police Sgt. Juan Centeno said.

“Officers saw the vehicle and the suspects as they were fleeing the scene,” Centeno said. They tried to stop the vehicle but it went onto the westbound Garden Grove (22) Freeway at Valley View Street.

“Officers pursued the vehicle onto the westbound 22 Freeway, then onto the northbound 405 Freeway,” he said. “The pursuit continued into Los Angeles County with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol.

The suspects led officers all the way to the vicinity of 71st and Figueroa streets where they bailed out of their vehicle and were arrested at about 1:15 a.m., CHP Officer Peter Nicholson said.

The suspects were identified as Mondher Arredondo, 33 and and Angellia Lopez, 24.
