Sheriff’s deputies are trying to determine what led to the shooting death of a man in Compton, authorities said Sunday.
It was reported at 11:04 p.m. Saturday on the 900 block of North Rose Avenue.
When deputies arrived, they found a man suffering from at least one gunshot wound, said Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.
The man was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, according to authorities.
Homicide investigators said there was a large party at the Rose Avenue location where several people were arguing before what appeared to be a gang-related shooting occurred, Koerner said.
There was no suspect information and no other details were available.
Anyone with information was asked to call the sheriff’s department Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500 or leave a tip anonymously with Crime Stoppers.
