A pedestrian was critically injured while crossing a North Hollywood street by a vehicle whose driver fled the scene, authorities said Monday.

The pedestrian was crossing outside of a crosswalk at 9:20 p.m. Sunday southbound on Oxnard Street at Goodland Avenue, Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section said.

A westbound gray Nissan Altima struck the pedestrian and its driver fled the scene, Eisenman said.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, she said.
