A domestic violence suspect was being sought Tuesday following a hit-and-run crash in Culver City that left a Los Angeles Police Department sergeant hospitalized with serious injuries.

The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. near the intersection of Centinela Avenue and Bristol Parkway, said Officer Christopher No of the LAPD Media Relations office.

The sergeant was listed in serious but stable condition with numerous injuries, including broken bones, but her injuries were not regarded as life-threatening, No said. Her name was not released.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident began a short time earlier, when the driver of a silver 2005 Cadillac Escalade “was involved in a domestic violence incident with the occupants of a silver Ford Fusion.”

“The domestic violence incident originated in the city of Inglewood,” a CHP statement said. “As both vehicles approached the intersection of Centinela Avenue and Bristol Parkway, they came upon (a Ford Explorer) LAPD patrol vehicle. While at the intersection, the Cadillac collided with the Ford Fusion and next the Cadillac rear-ended the patrol vehicle.

“The collision caused the patrol vehicle to veer left, and it subsequently collided with a concrete pillar,” the CHP reported. “After these collisions, the Cadillac continued traveling westbound on Centinela Avenue.”

The woman driving the Fusion was not injured, but a female passenger suffered a minor injury, the CHP reported.

The man driving the Cadillac remains at large, the CHP reported.

A silver Cadillac Escalade with collision damage reportedly was found abandoned several hours after the crash, but authorities could not confirm if it was the same vehicle.

According to NBC4, the LAPD sergeant was alone in her vehicle at the intersection when a woman in another car pulled alongside her and tried to get the sergeant’s attention. The Cadillac then crashed into both vehicles and sped off.

Anyone with information on the crash was urged to call the CHP West Los Angeles Area office at (310) 642-3939.
