A fire damaged a house in the Vermont Square area of Los Angeles Monday and injured one person, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 3:16 a.m. at 965 West 47th St., Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.
“One person was rescued from the flames by firefighters in critical condition with a severe burn injury,” Humphrey said. The victim’s age and gender were not immediately released. The patient was taken to a hospital for treatment, and no other injuries were reported.
It took 37 firefighters 18 minutes to put out the flames in the 110-year-old, 1,427 square-foot home.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, Humphrey said.
