A 74-year-old man was stabbed to death by his stepson in Lawndale, authorities said.

The attack was reported at 7:49 p.m. Wednesday at a home in the 4000 block of West 159th Street, Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

Detectives have learned the victim and suspect were arguing when the 52-year-old suspect stabbed his stepfather in the mid-torso area with a knife, Schrader said. The victim was taken to a hospital where he died.

The stepson was detained by deputies several blocks from the residence and was being interviewed by homicide detectives, she said.

The knife used in the stabbing was recovered at the crime scene, Schrader said.
