A former MTV VJ whose family reported him missing last week to Riverside police has been located and is safe, police said Tuesday.
Josiah “Jesse” Camp, 38, was the focus of a regional search after his family members in Riverside filed a missing persons report last Thursday, expressing concern after he failed to make contact with anyone for a week, according to Officer Ryan Railsback, a Riverside Police Department spokesman.
Camp is known to stay in motels, moving from place to place, but he generally has maintained communication with loved ones, especially his sister, on a regular basis, Railsback said.
Marisha Camp had posted two social media messages within the past week or so, asking if anyone knew her brother’s whereabouts.
Railsback said Camp was located by an area law enforcement agency and confirmed that he was “not in need of any assistance,” but released no additional information.
Camp’s family was notified, Railsback said.
The 6-foot-5 Camp won MTV’s inaugural “Wanna Be a VJ” contest in 1998 and worked on the cable channel’s “Total Request Live” program into the early 2000s. He later became a rock musician.
