Detectives Saturday searched for the person or persons responsible for the shooting death of a man in Compton.
Deputies responded at 8:20 p.m. Friday to a shots fired call in the 100 block of East Cypress Street and learned that a gunshot victim was located on the corner of Willowbrook Avenue and Cocoa Street, according to Deputy Trina Schrader with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Detectives believe the shooting occurred near East Cypress Street, she said.
The victim suffered at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene, Schrader said.
A description of the suspect or a motive for the shooting was not available, she said. It’s unclear whether the shooting was gang related.
