South Pasadena police were searching Sunday for a 45-year-old man missing two weeks without needed medication, authorities said.
Andrew Paul Dart was last seen around 4 p.m. July 21, at his home near Fair Oaks Avenue and Grevelia Street, South Pasadena police Cpl. J. Salcido said.
Pamela Dart told police her son Andrew said he was going to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting that evening.
When Pamela later returned to her home that night, Andrew was gone and left behind his cellphone, South Pasadena Sgt. Robert Bartl said.
South Pasadena detectives conducted an extensive search and determined that Dart had voluntarily disappeared and took steps to conceal where he went, Bartl said.
Dart was known to go to AA meetings in Pasadena and Hollywood. He also has been known to frequent the Fair Oaks Avenue business district and South Pasadena parks, police said.
Dart is described as white, 5 feet 10 inches tall, 220 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes and many be wearing glasses, according to Salcido and Bartl.
He last was seen wearing a white T-shirt with “Austin” printed on the front. He also was wearing sweatpants with “California” printed on one of the pants legs.
Anyone with information on Dart’s whereabouts was asked to call South Pasadena police at (626) 403-7297 or (626) 403-7280.
