A convicted felon and her boyfriend were behind bars Tuesday for allegedly stealing a car and gun, then going to a Menifee motel where sheriff’s deputies caught up with them.
Erica Trujillo, 35, and Marcos Antonio Saldana, 32, were arrested Monday at the Motel 6 in the 27900 block of Encanto Drive.
The pair were booked on suspicion of being in possession of a stolen firearm and receiving a stolen vehicle. Trujillo was additionally booked for alleged probation violations, and Saldana was additionally booked for committing a felony while on bail.
He’s being held in lieu of $30,000 bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta; she’s being held without bail at the Indio Jail.
According to sheriff’s officials, deputies were at the Motel 6 on an unrelated matter when they were alerted to a man with a gun in one of the rooms, where they confronted Saldana about 2 p.m. Monday.
He and Trujillo were detained after the deputies confirmed she was on probation.
During a search of the premises, a pistol reported stolen out of Texas was seized, and the vehicle being used by the pair was confirmed stolen from an unspecified location, according to sheriff’s investigators.
Trujillo and Saldana were taken into custody without a struggle.
According to court records, she has prior convictions for robbery and auto theft, while Saldana has an unresolved case pending for allegedly being in possession of a loaded stolen firearm and carrying a concealed gun in a car.
