One of two men convicted of the follow-home robbery and killing of a 67-year-old Montrose woman was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Devon T. White, 21, of Lynwood, was convicted Aug. 15 along with co-defendant James Wesley Trotter, 22, of Long Beach, in the Aug. 8, 2017, killing of Hye Soon Oh.
Both men were found guilty of murder, second-degree robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Jurors also found true the special circumstance allegation of murder during the commission of a robbery, along with an allegation that White personally used a handgun during the commission of the crime, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
White and Trotter followed the victim home from her business in Lynwood to the parking garage of her apartment, where she was shot and robbed, according to prosecutors.
Trotter is also facing life in prison without the possibility of parole. He is set to be sentenced Sept. 25 at the Burbank courthouse.
Prosecutors had opted earlier not to seek the death penalty against the two.
