A 19-year-old Santa Ana man has been charged in connection with a fatal stabbing stemming from a bar fight in Orange, a prosecutor said Tuesday.
Antonio Jesus Brito was charged Monday with murder and assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury. Brito, who is scheduled to be arraigned Sept. 21, also faces a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily injury.
Co-defendant Vidal Almazan Jr., 21, was charged Aug. 1 with the same felonies and sentencing enhancement.
The two are accused in the July 29 killing of 25-year-old Nicholas Glynn of Orange, said Senior Deputy District Attorney Scott Simmons. A third suspect remained at-large, Simmons said.
The bar fight apparently was triggered by a dispute “over a girl,” between the victim, his friend and the suspects, Simmons said.
Glynn and a friend got into a fight with the suspects at the District Lounge, 223 W. Chapman Ave., Simmons said.
They all eventually were kicked out and as Glynn and his friend, whose name was not released, were walking away down the street, the suspects drove by, got out of the car and the deadly stabbing ensued, Simmons said.
The still-at-large suspect is accused of stabbing Glynn while Brito and Almazan allegedly beat the other victim, who needed 44 stitches in his face, Simmons said.
Almazan was arrested July 30, and Brito was arrested Friday.
