The Los Angeles County coroner’s office worked Thursday to try to identify the body of a man in his 60s found in the water near the USS Iowa Museum in Los Angeles Harbor in San Pedro.
The body was found about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday near Berth 86 off Harbor Boulevard in the main channel of the Port of Los Angeles, officials said.
It was unclear how long the body had been in the water, Los Angeles Port Police spokesman Phillip Sanfield said.
The body was not easily visible to visitors at the museum, Sanfield told the Los Angeles Times. There was no immediate evidence of foul play, he said.
