Authorities searched Thursday for the shooter or shooters responsible for the death of a 65-year-old man in a drive-by shooting in Compton.
Deputies responded about 7 p.m. Wednesday to a call of a gunshot victim in the 600 block of West Peach Street and learned that the victim was on the southwest corner of Peach Street and Paulsen Avenue when a dark colored vehicle with several men inside drove southbound on Paulsen and fired numerous shots at him, according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
The victim was struck multiple times in the torso and was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Crowder said.
A detailed description of the suspects was not immediately available.
It was unclear if the shooting was gang-related.
The killing was at least the second in Compton in five days.
Christian Jackson, 27, was shot and killed about 8:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of Wilmington Avenue, between El Segundo Boulevard and Rosecrans Avenue.
