Authorities Wednesday were investigating the death of a young man who was brought to Northridge Hospital Medical Center with a gunshot wound.
The 18-year-old man, identified as Mario Ramirez of Northridge, was dropped off at the medical facility in the 18300 block of Roscoe Boulevard about 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Officers were called and located the victim in the hospital emergency room, but were informed by staff that the young man did not survive, police said.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that at around 9:45 p.m., a vehicle pulled into the hospital emergency room parking lot,” according to police. “The occupants of the vehicle removed the victim and left him with paramedics who happened to be standing outside. The occupants then fled the scene.”
Detectives have little information and continue to investigate a possible motive, but they do not believe Ramirez was the victim of a random shooting, police said.
Anyone with information about where the shooting may have occurred or any suspects involved was urged to call Detective Dave Peteque of LAPD Valley Bureau Homicide at (818) 374-1934.
After-hours or on weekends calls should be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7.
