A man was in critical condition Monday after he was shot while driving in the unincorporated Willowbrook area and crashed his Toyota Prius into parked cars, authorities said.
The shooting was reported at 11:55 p.m. Sunday in the 2600 block of El Segundo Boulevard, Lt. Richard Ruiz of the Century sheriff’s station said.
The California Highway Patrol originally responded to the crash but called the sheriff’s department when officers found the man inside was shot in the upper torso, Ruiz said.
The victim was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood for treatment, he said.
The vehicle had an Uber sticker in the windshield so investigators will pursue whether the man was shot during a robbery among possible scenarios, Ruiz said.
Investigators have gotten their leads so far from witnesses and have not been able to talk to the victim as of early Monday morning. Two men were seen running from the vehicle.
