A woman’s body was found Tuesday in a dumpster behind a condominium complex in Anaheim.

Officers were called about 2:15 a.m. to 2156 S. Euclid St. after someone made the discovery while going through the dumpster looking for recyclables, according to Sgt. Daron Wyatt of the Anaheim Police Department.

“Obviously it’s a very difficult situation,” Wyatt said. “Detectives primarily will need to try to identify the victim. That will be our first step in trying to determine whether the crime even occurred here in our jurisdiction or if this is just a dumped body here in our jurisdiction. Identification of the victim will be key. We’ll be going through missing persons reports. We’ll also be canvassing the neighborhood, knocking on doors, asking for any witnesses, canvassing for video surveillance.”

The victim’s body was in a suitcase or duffel bag, Wyatt said. He said reports that the victim was dismembered are erroneous.

Anyone with information was asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers, which accepts anonymous tips, at (855) TIP-OCCS.
