A man died after he was shot on a street in Lawndale, authorities said Monday.

The shooting was reported just before 8 p.m. Sunday at 162nd Street and Hawthorne Boulevard, Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

The man appeared to be in his mid-20s and was discovered lying on the sidewalk and partially in the street, Koerner said, adding “It is unknown if he was shot on the sidewalk or inside a nearby business.”

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, the deputy said.

Deputies were looking for “multiple suspects,” Lt. C. Lio of the South Los Angeles sheriff’s station said.

There have been no arrests as of early Monday morning.
