The Orange County coroner’s office identified Saturday two men fatally injured in separate motorcycle crashes on the San Diego (405) Freeway in Irvine.
The crashes happened starting at 7:22 a.m. on Nov. 2, according to the California Highway Patrol and the coroner’s office.
The first collision was in the southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway, south of Irvine Center Drive in Irvine.
Rami Koskinen, a 51-year-old Los Angeles man was riding a Honda NC 700 south in the carpool lane when he veered to the right and collided with a guardrail, the CHP reported. The victim was ejected from the bike and struck by a Volkswagen Jetta, according to the CHP. Koskinen died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported.
A driver of a Nissan Frontier, identified as Leon Cruz, 39, of Santa Ana, managed to avoid the crash and pulled over and got out of his truck to help direct traffic away from the collision.
About nine minutes later, 23-year-old Alberto Navarro Brito of Santa Ana who was riding a 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle slammed into the back of the Frontier and sustained fatal injuries, the CHP reported. Brito also died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.
