A transient parolee was arrested on suspicion of stealing a package from a Garden Grove home then trying to convince the female inside to take a shower, authorities said Sunday.
Donald Mayberry, 39, ran about 12:45 p.m. Saturday from the home in the 12500 block of Fieldstone Lane after the victim’s mother came home and found him in her daughter’s bedroom, Garden Grove police Sgt. M. Lord said.
“The owner of the residence was watching through his Ring camera and saw a suspect steal a package from the front porch,” Lord said. “The suspect returned a few minutes later and entered the residence while a female resident was lying on her bed inside.”
The suspect tried to convince the female to take a shower and she refused, Lord said.
The victim’s mother came home and found Mayberry in the female’s bedroom, the sergeant said. He claimed to be from Amazon and said he was just talking with the victim.
The suspect fled the home on foot and was located about an hour later when he was seen jumping into a backyard in the 6500 block of Chapman Avenue, Lord said.
