Garden Grove police said Wednesday they have tracked down a possible suspect in a fatal hit-and-run collision earlier this month.

Investigators did not release the name of the woman, who was contacted this week, because they have not confirmed she was behind the wheel of the Honda Accord that struck 22-year-old Vincent Tellez of Garden Grove, Lt. Carl Whitney said. A decision hasn’t been made on whether to arrest the woman, Whitney added.

Tellez was crossing the street outside of a crosswalk at Brookhurst Street and Crosby Avenue just before 9 p.m. Nov. 8, when he was struck by a Chevy Tahoe driven by a woman, according to Whitney.

The victim was knocked into the other lane of traffic, where the Accord struck him, Whitney said. That driver kept going, Whitney said.

The Tahoe’s driver, however, stayed on scene and tried to help the victim, the lieutenant said. That motorist was fully cooperative with investigators and was not suspected of being impaired in any way, Whitney said.

Anyone who saw the crash or has any details on the hit-and-run vehicle were asked to call investigator Paul Ashby at (714) 741-5823.
