A burial service paid for by donors will be held next week for an infant who was found abandoned and dead in Corona in July.

The child, identified only as Baby Jane Doe, was discovered at about 2:30 p.m. on July 27 near Cajalco Road and the 15 Freeway, and the cause of her death has not yet been confirmed, the Corona Police Department said.

In August, investigators released a photo of a T-shirt the baby was wearing when she was found in hopes that someone would recognize it, but attempts to locate the baby’s family have not yielded any results thus far.

The public burial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sunnyslope Cemetery, 1125 Rimpau Ave., Corona.

The investigation is ongoing and police urged anyone with information regarding the case to contact Detective Mario Hernandez at (951) 279-3659 or email Mario.Hernandez@CoronaCA.gov.

Police also reminded the public that the city of Corona offers several Safe Surrender Sites, where parents can safely surrender an infant within 72 hours of birth, with no questions asked. A list of Safe Surrender Sites can be found at www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/Safely-Surrendered-Baby/Surrender-Sites.
