A suspect who was shot during a confrontation with Riverside County sheriff’s deputies in Lake Elsinore Thursday died after being taken to a hospital.
The deputy-involved shooting occurred about 4 p.m. in the area of Chaney Street and Collier Avenue when deputies located a suspect wanted for the attempted murder of two people on Dec. 15 in Lake Elsinore, according to Deputy Robyn Flores of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies attempted to stop the suspect’s vehicle, but he fled and a pursuit began, Flores said. The chase ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into another vehicle with two people inside in the 18500 block of Collier Avenue. The two people in the rammed vehicle were not seriously hurt, ABC7 reported.
The suspect got out of the vehicle armed with a weapon and a deputy-involved shooting occurred, Flores said.
The suspect was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center where he died. The suspect’s name was not immediately disclosed.
No deputies were injured.
