A suspect was shot during a confrontation with Riverside County sheriff’s deputies in Lake Elsinore Thursday.

The deputy-involved shooting occurred about 4 p.m. in the area of Chaney Street and Collier Avenue, according to sheriff’s officials.

Few details were available, but according to reports from the scene, the suspect was wounded when he allegedly brandished a weapon at the end of a short vehicle chase.

No deputies were injured.

The man was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar in unknown condition.

The suspect was shot after he got out of the vehicle, the station reported.

The two people in the rammed vehicle were not seriously injured, according to ABC7.

The shooting occurred about 10 miles north of an ongoing standoff between deputies and a man in a residence near Clinton Keith and Smith Ranch roads.

The circumstances behind the standoff were not confirmed.
