A 19-year-old Santa Ana woman is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter for a crash in Tustin that killed two teenagers, one of whom was her brother.
Josselyn Jazmine Anguiano was also charged Nov. 27 with a felony count of child endangerment by caretaker. She also faces sentencing enhancements for causing great bodily injury to four victims.
Anguiano posted bail and was released from jail Nov. 29.
Anguiano could face up to 10 years and four months in prison if convicted at trial.
Anguiano lost control of the Infiniti M37 she was driving at about 75 mph before attempting to turn, according to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
The crash occurred about 2:50 a.m. March 23 in the 16000 block of Legacy Road, police said.
The speed limit on the street was 35 mph, prosecutors said. The car hit a curb while going 47 mph before slamming into multiple poles and flipping on its side, prosecutors said.
She had six passengers in the car, police said. They were all students at Century High School in Santa Ana.
Killed in the crash were 17-year-old Pedro Fuentes and the defendant’s brother, 17-year-old Jason Anguiano, police said. Two other passengers were injured, including one who suffered a broken jaw and another whose pelvis was fractured.
