The coroner’s office Saturday released the name of a bicyclist fatally struck by an SUV in Long Beach.

Rhodora Roldan Bachillar, 64, was a Long Beach resident, coroner’s Lt. Nani Cholakians said.

Officers were on patrol about 6 p.m. Thursday in the area of Willow Street and Golden Avenue when they came upon the scene of the collision, the Long Beach Police Department said.

The victim was found lying on the northwest corner of the intersection. Fire department personnel took her to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, police said.

“Officers also contacted a 50-year-old male resident of Long Beach who was identified as the driver of a 1993 Ford Explorer involved in the collision,” according to a police statement.

Police say the Ford was westbound on Willow Street approaching Golden Avenue as the traffic signal turned green, but when the SUV entered the intersection it struck the northbound bicyclist, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and detectives don’t suspect he was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.
