Three men have been arrested for allegedly burglarizing a Papa John’s Pizza business in Burbank.

The burglary occurred about 3:40 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of Glenoaks Boulevard, according to Burbank police Sgt. Derek Green.

Officers from the Glendale police department were on patrol along the border with Burbank when they saw three men carrying a safe and loading it into a parked vehicle and a shattered front window at the shop, Green said.

“As the officers approached, they were able to immediately detain and take one of the suspects into custody,” Green said. “The two other suspects fled into an adjacent residential neighborhood.”

Burbank officers joined the search and helped set up a perimeter, he said.

Officers from both departments searched methodically for hours and about 7 a.m. someone reported fidning discarded clothing in the 400 block of Cedar Avenue, Green said.

A search of the area turned up one of the outstanding suspects and about 8 .m. witnesses reported seeing the second suspect running in an alley near the 1100 block of East Elmwood Avenue. Both men were taken into custody, Green said.

The suspects have been identified as Rupert Lewis and Amil Campbell, both 21 and from Long Beach, and 27-year-old Tramell Gaines of Los Angeles.

All three were booked on suspicion of commercial burglary.
