A convicted felon allegedly caught in Norco with a loaded gun and stolen goods was released from jail Friday on a $10,000 bond.

Nathan Ryan Bonds, 31, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, receiving stolen property and probation violations.

Bonds was released from the Robert Presley Jail after posting bail Friday morning.

According to Riverside County sheriff’s Lt. Andrew Elia, residents in the 1400 block of Sixth Street called deputies about 10 a.m. after spotting the suspect in their neighborhood, believing he might be engaged in something illegal.

Deputies arrived minutes later and stopped Bonds in his vehicle, conducting a probation compliance search, at which point they seized “narcotics paraphernalia, suspected methamphetamine and a loaded semiautomatic handgun,” Elia said.

“Additionally, items were located which had been previously reported stolen out of the city of Riverside,” he said.

Bonds was taken into custody without a struggle.

According to court records, he has prior convictions for being in possession of an illegal weapon, being in possession of narcotics for sale and vandalism.
