The coroner’s office Sunday released the names of a woman and a man found dead when firefighters put out a structure fire at a Gardena auto body shop.
Angelique Amor Robinson, 26, and Randy Scott Dickey, 48, were both Gardena residents, coroner’s Lt. Nani Cholakians said.
Deputies were dispatched to the scene in the 18900 block of South Broadway Street about 5 a.m. Saturday, according to a watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Carson station.
The sheriff’s department reported the fire occurred at an auto body shop that included living space.
“This is a tragic reminder of the dangers of utilizing a commercial occupancy for living quarters,” according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. “The lack of working smoke detectors likely contributed to this very unfortunate loss of life.”
Arson and explosives investigators from the sheriff’s Special Enforcement Bureau were handling the fire investigation.
