The son of a CEO of an Irvine-based medical lab was charged Friday with killing his parents and a housekeeper in their Newport Beach gated community home.

Camden Burton Nicholson, 27, was charged with three counts of murder with a special circumstances allegation of multiple murders. Nicholson was scheduled to be arraigned sometime Friday in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana.

The victims were identified by Orange County sheriff’s officials as Richard Nicholson, 64, Kim Nicholson, 61, both of Newport Beach, and Maria Morse, 57, of Anaheim.

Richard Nicholson was the CEO of Irvine-based West Pacific Medical Laboratory. He twice served as president of the California Clinical Laboratory Association, the organization’s president, Michael Arnold, told the Orange County Register.

About 9 p.m. Wednesday, Newport Beach police received a call from the Irvine Police Department asking that they perform a welfare check at 36 Palazzo, according to Heather Rangel of the Newport Beach Police Department. Officers went to the home and found three victims — two women and a man — dead inside, Rangel said.

According to Rangel, Irvine police made the request for a welfare check after speaking to Camden Nicholson at the emergency room of Irvine Medical Center.
