Detectives are trying to determine if two shootings that occurred within 20 minutes of each other in Artesia — on of them fatal — are related.

At 9:44 p.m. Saturday, deputies responding to the 11800 block of Arkansas Street regarding a call of a gunshot victim located a man in the driveway of a home suffering from gunshot wounds, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau reported.

“It appears he did not live at the location and was shot while walking along the sidewalk and ran into the driveway, where he collapsed,” according to a news statement.

Paramedics rushed the man to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Investigators received information about another shooting that occurred approximately 20 minutes earlier nearby the corner of Clarkdale Avenue and 168th Street.

A man was struck by gunfire and driven to an area hospital, where he was treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. There was no suspect description and no weapon was recovered.

Detectives were in the process of determining if the two shootings were related.

Sheriff’s homicide detectives asked anyone with information regarding the shootings to call them at (323) 890-5500.
