A pedestrian struck by a car and killed in the Pico-Robertson area of Los Angeles crossed the street outside of a marked crosswalk, authorities said Monday.

The fatality was reported at 8:31 p.m. Sunday at 1119 South Robertson Boulevard, Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Nicholas Prange said. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene, Prange said.

The driver of the southbound 2006 Toyota Corolla remained at the scene to render aid, Los Angeles Police Department Officer Norma Eisenman said. No DUI was involved.

The pedestrian was described as a man possibly in his 60s, Eisenman said.
