The chase began about 11 p.m. Thursday in Palmdale, where a woman was abducted by the two suspects, yet was still able to text her boyfriend of her abduction, KCAL9 reported.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a man who said his girlfriend was sending him text messages from inside the Toyota, saying two men had taken her and were not letting her out of the car, KCBS2 reported.
Media outlets picked up the chase about 11:30 p.m. Thursday, when the Toyota was being driven erratically on the southbound Harbor (110) Freeway in Gardena, continuing onto the northbound Long Beach (710) Freeway, the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Signal Hill and the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Westminster.
The red Toyota ran out of gas about 12:30 a.m. on the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Irvine, where the suspect was ordered out of the vehicle first, followed by the alleged victim. California Highway Patrol officers then surrounded the car, pulled out a wheelchair from the rear of the vehicle and fit the alleged second suspect into the wheelchair.
