A suspected drunken motorcyclist who led authorities on a high-speed chase from Compton to the Cajon Pass was in custody Saturday morning.
At 10:10 p.m. Friday, deputies with the sheriff’s Compton station attempted to pull over the motorcyclist for reckless driving and driving under the influence, but the driver fled and a pursuit began, with the motorcyclist entering the eastbound lanes of the Gardena (91) Freeway, according to Deputy Erin Liu of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies ended their pursuit and the California Highway Patrol began a chase of the suspect, Liu said.
The suspect continued east, eventually transitioning to the northbound Orange (57) Freeway in Anaheim before merging on to the Pomona (60) Freeway in Diamond Bar and then getting on Interstate 15 in Ontario, with a CHP unit following closely.
The suspect drove at speeds of 90 to 100 mph during the pursuit, KCAL9 reported.
As the motorcyclist continued northbound on Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass, the suspect turned off the motorcycle’s headlight and pulled over onto the shoulder of the freeway just south of Highway 138. The suspect was taken into custody a short time later, CBS2 reported.
The age and name of the suspect were not disclosed.
