The Los Angeles Dodgers will try for the third time to conduct their first fireworks show of the 2019 season following Friday evening’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Dodger Stadium after their first two Friday night games ran too long.
The fireworks show will be set to disco music. Fans will be invited onto the field to watch the show, which will take place before 11 p.m. and is subject to cancellation if the game lasts too long.
The game is UCLA Night, with mascot Joe Bruin and the UCLA Spirit Squad greeting fans in the Right Field Plaza before the game. Former star gymnasts Peng Peng Lee, Hallie Mossett and Alex Waller will sing the national anthem.
The Dodgers are offering a ticket package consisting of a ticket to the game and a Dodgers/UCLA lightweight hoodie. It will be available at Dodgers.com/UCLA until gates open at 5:15 p.m.
U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Bradley Brown will be honored as the Military Hero of the Game. Brown joined the Marine Corps in 2010 and was deployed twice to Afghanistan. He left active duty in 2017 to pursue a career in law enforcement, but continues to serve in the Marine Corps Reserves.
Brown is a student at Golden West College in Huntington Beach, seeking a criminal justice degree.
The Dodgers will attempt to set the major league record for consecutive home games with a home run. They share the record at 32 with the 1999 Colorado Rockies in a streak that began on Aug. 21.
