An Illinois man admitted threatening and holding a woman against her will in a Jurupa Valley motel during a sexual encounter and was immediately sentenced Thursday to 16 months in state prison.

Emmet Davis Jr., 32, of Chicago pleaded guilty to one felony count each of making criminal threats and false imprisonment. In exchange for his admissions, the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office dropped a charge of forced oral copulation.

Superior Court Judge Eric Keen certified the terms of the plea agreement and imposed the sentence stipulated by the prosecution and defense.

Early on the morning of March 25, the unnamed victim met Davis at the Motel 6 at 6830 Mission Blvd. and went inside his room. Once behind closed doors, the defendant threatened to physically harm the woman if she did not acquiesce to his demands, preventing her from leaving, according to sheriff’s investigators.

The victim relented, but during the assault, she was able to bolt from the room and run to the motel front desk to direct employees to call 911, according to sheriff’s officials.

Deputies arrived a short time later, and after questioning the woman and Davis, he was taken into custody without incident.

The defendant has no documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
