A parolee accused in the death of a 22-year-old man in west Riverside was charged Friday with voluntary manslaughter.
Kelvin Trayvone Taylor, 25, of Riverside was arrested Wednesday following a nearly two-month investigation into the death of Jordan Love.
Along with the manslaughter count, Taylor is charged with sentence-enhancing parole violations.
He’s being held without bail at the Indio Jail and is slated to make his initial court appearance Friday afternoon at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
According to Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback, Taylor and Love had a confrontation on the evening of Feb. 8 in the 7400 block of El Sol Way, near Madison Street, in an area of the city known as Casa Blanca.
Railsback said passers-by spotted the victim lying unconscious on the cul de sac and called 911.
According to the officer, the victim had suffered “major trauma to the head” and was transported to Riverside Community Hospital. Love never regained consciousness and died four days later, Railsback said.
Homicide detectives began collecting evidence and speaking with potential witnesses, eventually identifying Taylor as the alleged assailant, according to Railsback.
The convicted felon was taken into custody without a struggle Wednesday afternoon on Limonite Avenue in Jurupa Valley.
Investigators declined to disclose the alleged conflict between the ex-con and Love.
According to court records, Taylor has prior convictions for armed robbery, possession of an assault rifle and grand theft.
