The owner of a vacant Koreatown property was surprised by a transient during a visit to the property Saturday and shot the transient in a foot during a struggle that ensued, authorities said.
The shooting was reported about 4:40 p.m. at 728 South Manhattan Place, Lt. D. Koeh of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Olympic Station said.
The property owner had gone there to post No Trespassing signs and was in possession of a rifle as he was surprised by a transient on the property, Koeh said.
They struggled and the transient was wounded.
The transient had stable vital signs at a hospital for treatment, he said. No arrests were made.
