Viewing parties for the telecast of the Sunday’s U.S.-Chile 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup game will be held at Banc of California Stadium and other locations in Los Angeles County.
The party at The Fields LA, the food court attached to Banc of California Stadium, will begin at 8 a.m. All fathers will get their first beer free.
The telecast of the Group F game from Parc des Princes in Paris will begin at 9 a.m. The game will be televised in English by Fox and in Spanish by Telemundo.
Parties organized by various chapters of American Outlaws, a nationwide support group for the U.S. men’s and women’s national soccer teams, will be held in the following locations:
— Legends Sports Bar, 5236 E. Second St., Long Beach;
— Ola Restobar, 211 N. Citrus Ave., Covina;
— 1739 Public House, 1739 N. Vermont Ave., Los Feliz; and
— Underground Pub & Grill, 1332 Hermosa Ave., Hermosa Beach.
Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy will host a watch party at Tom’s Urban at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.
The U.S. opened play in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup with a record-setting 13-0 victory over Thailand Tuesday, setting FIFA Women’s World Cup records for goals in a game and widest margin. Its 10 second-half goals were also a record.
Diamond Bar High alumnus Alex Morgan had five goals and three assists, the most combined goals and assists a player has had in a World Cup game.
The U.S. is 34-4-6 in FIFA Women’s World Cup play, outscoring its opponents 125-35. The 34 victories, 44 games and 125 goals are all FIFA Women’s World Cup records.
Chile lost to Sweden, 2-0, Tuesday in its first FIFA Women’s World Cup game.
The U.S. is first in the rankings compiled by FIFA, soccer’s international governing body. Chile is 39th, five spots behind Thailand.
All 23 U.S. players play in the National Women’s Soccer League. Chile has 10 players who play for teams in Spain, eight in Chile, two in Brazil and one each in France and the Czech Republic. Goalkeeper Ryan Torrero is unattached.
Chile starting goalkeeper and captain Christiane Endler played at the University of South Florida.
This will be the third time the U.S. will face Chile. Both previous meetings came in exhibitions. The U.S. won 3-0 on Aug. 31, 2018, at the then-StubHub Center in Carson, and 4-0 on Sept. 4, 2018, at Avaya Stadium in San Jose.
