Authorities Tuesday identified a 16-year-old boy who was fatally shot in La Puente in an attack that also left two men wounded.
The gunfire erupted around 6:30 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of Tonopah Avenue. Responding deputies found Larry McKay dead at the scene from at least one gunshot wound to the head, according to the coroner’s office.
An unidentified man was hospitalized in critical condition with two gunshot wounds to the upper chest, sheriff’s Deputy Tracy Koerner said. A third victim was treated for a bullet wound to one of his hands and was hospitalized in stable condition, she said.
Investigators learned the victims were fired upon by two men in a silver or dark-colored SUV, Koerner said, but a motive for the attack was unknown.
It was the second multiple victim shooting in La Puente that weekend. Last Friday night, a 31-year-old man was killed and a 22-year-old man was also shot in the 100 block of North Winton Avenue.
Anyone with information was asked to call homicide detectives at 323-890-5500. Anonymous tips can be made at Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
