Authorities searched Friday morning for the driver of a big rig who slammed into a car and tree on a street in Duarte, then fled the scene.
The crash occurred about 12:20 a.m. in the 2500 block of Huntington Drive, near Crestfield Drive, and left behind a trail of destruction and the mangled wreckage of the trailer, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
NBC4 reported the truck also hit a mailbox and the garage door of a nearby apartment.
After the semi came to a stop, the driver unhooked the cab from the damaged trailer and fled the scene, the sheriff’s department said.
Information found on the trailer is being used by sheriff’s detectives to try to track down the driver, the LASD said.
No injuries were reported.
